While much of the time spent by the Liquid Packaging Solutions team is spent designing, fabricating, building and testing packaging machinery, we understand that our skills are required after the equipment reaches the end user as well. LPS technicians often travel with the machinery to the packagers production floor, assisting in the installation of the equipment while also training staff on the proper use of the machinery and offering a number of benefits.
While the design of LPS packaging machinery makes the set up and operation of equipment such as liquid fillers, capping machines and power conveyors simple, these tasks are not a part of most people's daily lives. In addition, different packaging machinery requires different operator skills. The installation and training services offered by LPS ensures that nothing is overlooked in the set up process and that optimal performance is achieved on a daily basis.
Installation by packaging professionals plays a key role in not only getting the machinery set up and running production quickly, but providing some assurance that all equipment is working properly. During the installation process, automatic packaging machinery can be positioned on the production floor as desired by the packager. LPS technicians will level the machine and work with the packagers products, containers, caps and other components to ensure smooth production from day one. Small adjustments can have a large effect on the performance of automatic fillers, cappers, labelers and other machines. While the equipment is normally staged and tested in house at LPS, shipping and handling can cause modifications to be necessary upon arrival.
In addition to properly setting up the equipment, the installation provides a perfect opportunity for LPS Packaging Specialists to interact with the actual operator or operators of the machinery, helping each to understand the nuances of the equipment, the start up and changeover procedures, troubleshooting and routine maintenance. For example, automatic spindle cappers may require adjustments to the spindle wheels, the gripper belts and the cap chute to run different caps. Providing the operators with hands-on experience with the oversight of a Packaging Specialist can be an invaluable benefit by saving time and wear on the machine. The same is true of automatic liquid filling machines, which use an operator interface to control times, delays, pump speeds and other functions of the machine. While recipes screens can make setup quick and easy, there is great benefit to having an operator that understands each of the screens and their functions.
While normally recommended for automatic equipment, installation and training will not always be done on site at the production facility. On some occasions, a packager may be trained at LPS on a specific machine or packaging system. The needs of the packager and the complexity of the machinery will dictate the necessary steps to be taken. However, even with semi-automatic and tabletop packaging systems, some form of training - if not installation - is always a good idea. And of course, the LPS relationship with the customer never ends with the delivery, installation or training. Our Packaging Specialists are always just a phone call away for troubleshooting or to provide additional training due to employee turnover, product additions or any other reason.
