LPS Product Line - General Overview
At Liquid Packaging Solutions, we often receive requests for a product catalog or sheet showing all of the products manufactured by LPS. However, this request is not easily filled, as almost every machine we build will be custom manufactured to meet the requirements of the project at hand. Of course, there are general types of equipment that are repeatedly manufactured at LPS that might be called "standard" machines. With that in mind, we present below a general overview of the LPS product line.
TURNTABLES
Turntables can be manufactured to assist in loading, accumulating or simply transferring bottles as they move down a packaging line. All of the tables can be manufactured with different diameter tops to handle a wide range of containers empty or full. Turntables can also be manufactured in different materials as well, though stainless steel is the most common construction material.
CONVEYOR SYSTEMS
Conveyor systems for automatic packaging machinery can be manufactured in just about any length and width, as well as in a straight line, a horseshoe pattern or any other shape necessary for the project at hand. Conveyor systems can also be manufactured in different styles to fit the packager's needs, including C-frame, sanitary and low-profile. Both belts and construction material can also differ for projects that may be corrosive, include excess heat or require static control.
CONTAINER CLEANING MACHINES
Bottle rinsers and washers are used to clean the inside and outside of containers for a number of different industries, and can be used in any industry. Inverting rinsing machines are probably the most popular type of container cleaning machine, though bottle vacuums and bottle washers are also manufactured at LPS. The type of machine used will depend on the bottle or range of bottles to be cleaned and these machines can be manufactured as both semi-automatic and fully automatic equipment.
FILLING MACHINES
Filling machines are manufactured to fill containers in a variety of different ways. Liquid fillers can be built to fill in a variety of manners, including to a level, by volume, or by weight. In addition to the fill principle, a number of different nozzles and components can be used to control issues such as foaming or dripping. Filling machines can also be manufactured in semi-automatic or automatic models and the principle and components will be decided based on the product, production demand, containers and a number of other factors.
CAPPING AND SEALING EQUIPMENT
Different types of capping and sealing machines are used for different types of closures. For example, spindle and chuck capping machines are used for screw-on type, threaded caps. Snap cappers would be used for projects that include press-on type closures. Different machines would also be manufactured for T-corks, ROPP caps and other closure types. In some cases, machine types can be combined to apply more than one type of cap on a single piece of equipment. In addition to capping machines, LPS manufactures equipment for neck bands, capsules and other unique container seals. As with rinsers and fillers, capping equipment can be built to perform semi-automatically or automatically.
NITROGEN PURGE SYSTEMS
Nitrogen purge systems are used to extend the shelf life of products by removing oxygen from cap space and replacing it with nitrogen. The nitrogen will not have the same detrimental effect as oxygen on some products such as foods. A nitrogen purge can also protect the color, taste and texture of the products as well. Some purge systems may also be used to strengthen containers, though, at least at LPS, this is not as common as the first use. These simple machines can attach at various locations on almost any conveyor system but are most commonly found just before the capping of the filled bottle or container.
CUSTOM MANUFACTURED EQUIPMENT
While most of the equipment manufactured by LPS may start with a "standard" machine and then be tweaked to meet the needs of the packager, from time to time a very unique project will arise. These projects may include a unique product, strange package or even an odd component like a cap or label. When this occurs, LPS will design and engineer an efficient machine to meet the specific needs of the project. As packages and preferences change, a once custom machine may over time become more "standard", but the next generation of products, bottles, containers, pouches and other packages will always bring new challenges!
INTEGRATED MACHINERY
Finally, LPS offers packagers complete, turnkey packaging systems. Sometimes specialty equipment will be integrated with LPS equipment to create the final solution. For example, a number of OEM's specialize in the manufacture of labeling equipment. Rather than trying to reinvent the wheel, LPS works with the manufacturer's of labeling equipment to offer the best solution available and add these solutions to the packaging machinery built in the LPS Indiana plant. Integration also allows the packager a single point of contact for not only procuring all of their packaging equipment needs, but for future service on the line as a whole.
While not a typical product line, in the packaging industry there really does not exist a single machine that will fit each and every need.
